Der Doktor, Ryan Graham und Yaz kommen im Lancashire des 17. Jahrhunderts an und werden im Hexenprozess eines örtlichen Grundbesitzers verwickelt. Wo bereits Angst das Land heimsucht, wird diese durch die Hexenjagd von König James I noch verstärkt. Aber ist da vielleicht noch etwas gefährlicheres am Werk? Können der Doktor, und ihre Freunde die Bewohner von Bilehurst Cragg vor all den Mächten, die das Land heimsuchen, beschützen?
